One day projects week 2 - Origin of colour Daisy Jackson / 30/01/2023 For today's one day project, we were told to look at our favourite colour and look into the origin of that colour. We were also told to make either a drawing or a story based on the facts we have found out about this colour we have chosen. For my colour I chose green: For the colour green I found out quite a lot of interesting facts. In modern day, green is associated with nature and growth, however in other cultures, it symbolises death and even the devil. The devil actually used to be green. I found this fact in particular quite fascinating as I always associate the devil with the colour red, hense the negative connotations to red such as death, poison, heartbreak etc. This then led to idea generation: I really loved the idea of a nature devil. This shows what the colour green can be associated with in comparison to now. When googling imagery for a green devil, I came across the alcoholic drink which was inspir...

Here is what I have done: I really enjoyed doing this task traditionall as it felt more emotive and got my creativity flowing more. I decided to go with a children-like theme with my illustrations as I feel like my final product will relate more to a younger target audience. I particularly loved my drawings of monsters as I feel like this could be...

One day projects week 1 Daisy Jackson / 23/01/2023 For our week one one day projects launch, we focused on colour. In this mini project we were told to focus on contrasting colours while also looking at complimentary colours - telling a story and painting a picture. We were given a sheet of paint shades used for painting. On these rectangles we had to draw colourfully. I decided to do a whole half of the sheet to challenge myself. Here are my thumbnails for idea generation: Here are my favourites: I love these two due to the difference in perspective. Matt mentioned how it would be interesting to not centralise everything and focus on different angles. I think it worked really well and the colours were complimentary towards each other.  I love this one as I make use of the blue background and add white and yellow to create the illusion of the tide coming onto the beach. This is an interesting twist and plays nicely with the angles and perspective. The starfish adds a nice ex...
