Focusing on the inside of my book

Daisy Jackson / 06/03/2023

After looking into the front and back cover, I decided to play around with the contents. I wanted to introduce Moe as a character and explain the concept of the book.

With children's books, its great to focus on colour and text as well as imagery. This way the child can learn from what they are reading. Having the word 'Moe' larger and in different font and colour draws more attention to it and also highlights the importance of it to the child.

I then added texture:

I prefer this version as there is more going on and it is much more visually exciting to look at!

The same applies here with the text as I experimented with sizes and styles. The word 'different' is represented through different sizes and styles of font to show that every letter is different. I felt like the same could be done with the word 'sizes'.

I am very happy with the results of these two pages. The alteration to the word 'sizes' adds a stronger effect. I also love how the imagery also alligns well with the text.

The cream background is also great as it allows for the frogs to stand out more.

I will more than likely add the leaf textures to the background of the first two pages introducing Moe as this makes the book more consistent as well as linking up well with the style of the front and back cover.

After this, I did a trial of the 'Find Moe' pages:

On this page features a forest in Southeastern Canada - the habitat of the Gray Tree frog. I included a mini Moe who is hidden amongst this scenery. In this page, he is the shade 'Seaweed'. I included an educational fact about this shade which I will be doing for all the other pages to futher educate the child.

If I have time when finishing, I might include my idea about predators so the child can further learn about this little frog named Moe!
