Researching into children's books and figuring out a target audience Daisy Jackson / 20/02/2023 Today I decided to research into various children's books to gain inspiration for my final piece for this colour project. I looked into mix and match flip books as well as books about colour in general. This allowed me to see how other artists approached the topic for children. It will also help me figure out an age range for my own book. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? - Eric Carle Target audience: Children aged 3-5 years old Eric Carle's 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?' is an illustrative book about colour. The way the book is laid out is very interesting as it takes the child through a story about an adventure where the characters see different coloured animals. Trialling a rough folded format for my book Daisy Jacskson / 14/03/2023 Today I decided to create a rough trial of how I will create my book. Ofcourse I acknowledge that there will be a spine on the book, but I wanted to see if my classic staple idea would work as well as how thick my book would be. Very happy with the turnout of this. The thickness is great as I will be creating 10 (or 10+) designs for 'Find Moe' as well as a back sheet where it tells you the location of Moe at the end. I will also be including some text congratulating the reader on finding Moe. I need to develop this further and create a hard cover. Overall, this was a great way to figure out the thickness, contents, order and so on.

One day projects week 2 - Origin of colour Daisy Jackson / 30/01/2023 For today's one day project, we were told to look at our favourite colour and look into the origin of that colour. We were also told to make either a drawing or a story based on the facts we have found out about this colour we have chosen. For my colour I chose green: For the colour green I found out quite a lot of interesting facts. In modern day, green is associated with nature and growth, however in other cultures, it symbolises death and even the devil. The devil actually used to be green. I found this fact in particular quite fascinating as I always associate the devil with the colour red, hense the negative connotations to red such as death, poison, heartbreak etc. This then led to idea generation: I really loved the idea of a nature devil.
