Making a moodboard plus creating my character

To help with idea generation regarding the gray tree frog I decided to make a moodboard. This way I could develop more ideas on what I want to do and accomplish.

To begin with creating my character, I needed to observe the appearance of the Gray Tree frog. I decided to use this photo for reference.

I referenced these thumbnails I made:

After this, I decided to try out style #1:

I was very happy with this. It is clearly a frog and has a cute playful style which can attract children. However, I feel like texture is important here. I decided to try something out...

This! Very happy with the results of this as you can see the textures from the photograph. This adds more to the style and makes it look more interesting.

I decided to experiment more...

This worked out a lot better in my head. I feel like too much is going on and takes away from the added textures. I do love it but I prefer the second version a lot more! Sometimes simplicity is key...

After this I experimented with colour:

These are examples of the different shades I would be experimenting with in regards to Moe. I am very happy with these as they are all different and can be added nicely to a background.
